UPDATE AT END OF POST: Gore prominently quotes Deuteronomy, "I’m offering you the choice of life or death."

The cover of Nobel Laureate Al Gore's new book "Our Choice: A Plan to Solve the Climate Crisis" was intentionally doctored to exaggerate the appearance of hurricanes in the northern hemisphere as well as reduce the amount of ice present in the Arctic.

Maybe even more ominously, Florida was so diminished it's almost totally gone.

As reported by Florida State University hurricane expert Ryan Maue at the website Watts Up With That, the truth was apparently inconvenient for the Global Warmingist-in-Chief (h/t NBer Blonde):

The cover opens and closes half and half - so you only see one hurricane...as in the press release photo or the one on Amazon.

But this is the real picture sequence from the book which I looked at Borders today and took cell-phone pictures, original (before the retouching by some "artist") Note all of the Arctic ice and the size of the Florida Peninsula...

According to Maue, this is the full, unfolded cover:

Hey! Where'd Florida go?

With hurricane activity at 30-year lows, and Arctic ice levels on the rise, I guess Gore and Company figured they needed some help proving their point.

*****Update: NBer Dim Bulb humorously pointed out in the comments section that Gore might be eliminating Florida in this picture to exact revenge for 2000's recount debacle.

*****Update II: It gets even scarier. On Wednesday, Tom Nelson reported:

On a page by itself, we find this inside the front cover of Al Gore’s latest climate fraud promotion book:

I’m offering you the choice of life or death. You can choose either blessings or curses. – Deuteronomy Chapter 30, Verse 19

Ryan Maue confirmed this by phone moments ago, and sent this picture.

So Al Gore believes he's offering the world a choice between life and death.

Maybe they'll give him another Nobel Peace Prize for such sentiments.
Yea, he and Obama can put both of their twin fake Peace Prizes on the same fireplace mantle, maybe, while toasting on the demise of honesty and ethics in our world.

"The man has deliberately started a religion, stealing the power point idea from Reagan and the religion idea from That sci-fi guy L. Ron Hubbard. You have original sin (pollution), a priesthood (his scientists), heretics (their scientists), apostates (believers who don't get involved with the "struggle"), a messiah (just guess) and a coming apocalypse if we don't repent. "

And, puleeeez, Grizz, no red-herring comments about Bush or Cheney or Phil Gramm. It's getting old.

Thank goodness we are using scientists and not politicians to do this research. When the science changes, or the information changes they tell us about it. Unlike say maybe... religion or polticians. Who simply change the data to fit their argument.

In the trenches on climate change, hostility among foes
Stolen e-mails reveal venomous feelings toward skeptics

By Juliet Eilperin
Washington Post Staff Writer
Sunday, November 22, 2009

Electronic files that were stolen from a prominent climate research center and made public last week provide a rare glimpse into the behind-the-scenes battle to shape the public perception of global warming.

While few U.S. politicians bother to question whether humans are changing the world's climate -- nearly three years ago the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change concluded the evidence was unequivocal -- public debate persists. And the newly disclosed private exchanges among climate scientists at Britain's Climate Research Unit of the University of East Anglia reveal an intellectual circle that appears to feel very much under attack, and eager to punish its enemies.

In one e-mail, the center's director, Phil Jones, writes Pennsylvania State University's Michael E. Mann and questions whether the work of academics that question the link between human activities and global warming deserve to make it into the prestigious IPCC report, which represents the global consensus view on climate science.

"I can't see either of these papers being in the next IPCC report," Jones writes. "Kevin and I will keep them out somehow -- even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is!"

In another, Jones and Mann discuss how they can pressure an academic journal not to accept the work of climate skeptics with whom they disagree. "Perhaps we should encourage our colleagues in the climate research community to no longer submit to, or cite papers in, this journal," Mann writes.

"I will be emailing the journal to tell them I'm having nothing more to do with it until they rid themselves of this troublesome editor," Jones replies.

Patrick Michaels, a senior fellow at the libertarian Cato Institute who comes under fire in the e-mails, said these same academics repeatedly criticized him for not having published more peer-reviewed papers.

"There's an egregious problem here, their intimidation of journal editors," he said. "They're saying, 'If you print anything by this group, we won't send you any papers.' "

Mann, who directs Penn State's Earth System Science Center, said the e-mails reflected the sort of "vigorous debate" researchers engage in before reaching scientific conclusions. "We shouldn't expect the sort of refined statements that scientists make when they're speaking in public," he said.

Christopher Horner, a senior fellow at the libertarian Competitive Enterprise Institute who has questioned whether climate change is human-caused, blogged that the e-mails have "the makings of a very big" scandal. "Imagine this sort of news coming in the field of AIDS research," he added.

The story of the hacking has ranked among the most popular on Web sites ranging from The Washington Post's to that of London's Daily Telegraph. And it has spurred a flood of e-mails from climate skeptics to U.S. news organizations, some likening the disclosure to the release of the Pentagon Papers during Vietnam.

Kevin Trenberth, who heads the Climate Analysis Section at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo., and wrote some of the pirated e-mails, said it is the implications rather than the content of climate research that make some people uncomfortable.

"It is incontrovertible" that the world is warming as a result of human actions, Trenberth said. "The question to me is what to do."

"It's certainly a legitimate question," he added. "Unfortunately one of the side effects of this is the messengers get attacked."

In his new book, "Science as a Contact Sport: Inside the Battle to Save the Earth's Climate," Stanford University climate scientist Stephen H. Schneider details the intense debate over warming, arguing that it has helped slow the nation's public policy response.

"I've been here on the ground, in the trenches, for my entire career," writes Schneider, who was copied on one of the controversial e-mails. "I'm still at it, and the battle, while looking more winnable these days, is still not a done deal."

Lawrence, as with everyting else in your pitiful existence you are wrong again. There is no "science" today. Mearly a scramble for funds with the promise to the fund givers that the results of the "science" will benifit the fund givers. Science is dead. Just another benifit of liberalism.

Science is not dead. Science changes as new evidence comes about. Sometimes when new evidence comes about it takes time to figure out what the data means.. When it comes to climate and weather and looking at history its not exact in all cases. There are so many varibles anyone with half a brain would expect things to change often. Certainly there are scientists who are doing things for only money. (as with anything in life) But there are also those who are doing what they think is best.

So yet again you two put your foot squarely in your mouth..

(Also note, I do not believe Al Gores doom and gloom, nor do I support cap and trade, nor do I completely believe man is responsible for the rise in the earths tempature. At least not the main cause.)

The tone was decidedly different. Insulting on this forum, while agreeing with the poster on your forum. Leaves a completely different impression of your view.

That's what is wrong with your statement. "course it's probably too subtle a difference for you to distinguish.

Errrrrr, please explain.
And, after you try to do so, read this. However, I realize that you may have to go on "vacation" again for a few months before you do so. ph34r.gif
A relentless quest for money pervades science—and almost anything goes to acquire it, including commercial deals between universities scientists and industry that trade away basic traditions of science: openness, collegiality, and protection of human subjects of research. In scientific journals and in conferences, conscience-stricken scientists despair over ethical erosion in their profession. Debates rage over codes of conduct to assure ethical behavior, but the lure of mammon remains a powerful force in the life of science.
So...........I guess Nomad's foot is not squarely in his mouth at all. Yours? .....Not so sure. unsure.gif

Again, you are saying two things at once. Do not believe in Al Gore's doom & gloom, don't support cap & trade...............so where is the foot in Nomad's and my mouth? Better to remove the dangling ankle from yours and speak out of it instead of out of your a$$ as you are prone to do.

Crazy. You are absolutely crazy. Condemning a statement made by Nomad and me, and then making the same statement yourself.

Al Gore's is a liar, a statement that you first disagree, then you agree. blink.gif

The foot is in your mouth, it would seem. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif Poor guy. Are you the only one that doesn't see how silly your statements are? Is it because you don't even know what you believe? Or, is it that you just can't control your knee-jerking enough to keep from making a complete fool of yourself over and over?

And, then go on your forum and brag about it?

Ohhhhh, to be not quite 30 again, and thinking I know it all. And being too stupid to realize that I know just enough to be dangerous, but not smart enough to realize that I don't know all there is to know. ohmy.gif
