The incident arose from an internal dispute between the Rohingyas and the embassy.
Myanmar Embassy official recognised one of the attackers who had visited the embassy
to verify a document which he claimed stated his father had been declared a war hero
by the Yangon government. However, he was turned away on several occasions as he could
not produce the original document. The suspect is believed to have been upset with the
embassy officials for giving him the runaround.

The following statement are issued by Myanmar Authorities on 9th April, 2004 on concerning "Three Perpetrators Intrude into Myanmar Embassy Compound in Kuala Lumpur and Set Fire to the Chancery and Embassy Vehicle ".

Myanmar condemns Despicable Act of the Perpetrators

On 7 April 2004 at 10 am, three men armed with an axe, knives and iron rods intruded into the compound of the Myanmar embassy in Kuala Lumpur by climbing over walls and attacked the embassy. In the course of the attack, they set fire to the Chancery and an Embassy vehicle. The embassy immediately informed the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Malaysian Police and the Fire Department. Moreover, the embassy staff, together with other Myanmar nationals who were on the premises, fended off the attacks forcing the perpetrators to flee.

Subsequently, they were apprehended by the Malaysian Police who had by then arrived on the scene. U Khin Maung Lynn, Minister-Counsellor of the embassy, sustained injuries as a result of the attack and is currently being treated at a hospital. Ambassador U Hla Maung and other officers and staff of the Embassy were not injured. Myanmar condemns the despicable act of the perpetrators who set fire to the Chancery and inflicted injuries on a diplomat.

It is cooperating closely with the Malaysian authorities on the matter. U Aung Bwa, Director-general of the ASEAN Affairs Department, who is currently in Kuala Lumpur, held discussions in the afternoon of the 7 April with officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Yangon is also in contact with the local Malaysian Embassy. In the meantime, an enquiry team from Myanmar has been dispatched to investigate the matter and work together with the Malaysian authorities.

The Malaysian authorities have given assurances that necessary investigations would be made and firm action taken against the prepetrators with the full force of law. The Myanmar Embassy in Kuala Lumpur is now functioning normally.

This is very intersting as I didn't think that they had the internet in Burma. Obviously some little chap sits at a PC in Rangoon (Yangon) and does Google searches. Burmese Internet Policeman, that's a hell of concept.

Mr Sai Liek as actually in Tokyo.

GoToMyPC said it allows you to access your computer from any other computer that is connected to the Internet. It's really does. Thanks to GoToMyPC.

Yes, they have limited internet access in Burma, very much censored however.
To get free informations out of the internet in Burma, you have to jump over proxy servers, and proxy servers in Japan are very powerful and uncensored, often used by mainland Chinese.
This might be an explication, why it looks like this poster is located in Japan.

Reading the various above postings, it seems, that the ethnic group decides, who is a Burma citizen and who not....

Rohingyas not belong to the Myanmar Ethnic

However many people in Burma do not have documentation about their own person, same with Bangladesh....often unclear, who is who.

Not such improvements seen by this present Burma government so far to solve that situation....they simply said, they do not care about anything...
