Gideon,

Too true... smile.gif

The timing of this new group was exquiste as well. In Australian politics always make your move on a Sunday...its the 'slow news day', the media are desperate for anything, so your garunteed wall to wall coverage.
Old Peter Gration didn't rise to the rank of Chief of ADF for nothing, or by fluke.
Very clever tactics (hats off to the old war horse).

"dottering daquiri sippers..."
"The gang of 43..."

The Liberal backbench has come out guns ablazin against the '43' in order to try and stem the blood flow on what could most likely be the last week the Australian Parliament sits before the Federal election.

I've just finished watching the PM being interviewed on ABC TV (something he only aquiesces to when he right under the hammer...) and combined with the PBS furore this has become a big hit on the Governments electoral positioning.

Remember Lib Party Presidents infamous "Mean and Tricky" gaff.

Howard is political surviour (and one of the best operators in recent history), with three decades in the Hobbitt Hole (parl't.) he's hardly sunk yet. But this has certainly been a 'broadside' on the Libs, and it will have the 8- 10 govt backbenchers on razor thin majorities, finding it hard to sleep tonight.
