The call-up of more Army Reserves is tearing apart another East Tennessee family.
This time, a mom will leave her three kids behind, and her husband will take care of them.
Volunteer TV's Lee Merrit has the story.
Michelle Slaven's family is saying good-bye, the mother of three is being called up to serve our country, she'll be gone at least 18 months.
"...hardest thing is leaving my children and husband," says Michelle Hoskins-Slaven, mother of three.
13-year-old Zachary, 11-year-old Whitney and 7-year-old Jeremiah will depend a whole lot more on their step dad while their mom is gone, he is a military man himself.
"I expected it for me first," says husband Ken Slaven, fighting back tears.
But Ken Slaven isn't being deployed because the Army needs him to stay here and train other Reservists.
He's not worried about that, calling it routine, what's not, is playing "Mister Mom".
"We do good to take care of them, don't ride em that hard, say I'm harder than she is, everyone worried I'm going to kill them, not going to kill them, just going to make them work," says Ken.
All three of the kids play sports and depend on rides for all their activities, but the kids' have much bigger concerns about their mom being gone...
"What're you going to miss most about her?” Lee asks the boys.
"Her cooking," says Zachary, 13-years-old.
"Wont' have as much good food… will be kind of lonely," says Jeremiah, 7-years-old.
"They are okay right now, we'll be hardest hit when I leave out," says Michelle.
"She's going to be gone for awhile, they're going to be ready for her to come back, and I'll be ready for her to come back," says Ken, "you just put everything in the Good Lord's hands and it'll work out."
That's all this family can pray for, right now.
Michelle and the rest of the 844th Engineering Battalion leave for training next month.
Their exact orders have not yet been disclosed, but they specialize in rebuilding roads.
