The leniency of Bali bombing mastermind Abu Bakar Bashir's sentence -- 30 months for the murder of 202 people has shocked the Australian public, not in the least because after long labor the mountain has brought forth a mouse.

Former magistrate Brian Deegan, who lost his son Josh, 22, in the Bali bombing, said Bashir's sentence was outrageous. "It equates to a bit over a week (in jail) per man, woman and child that were hurt," Mr Deegan said today. "You get no closure out of this, it's absolutely insulting."

The bombing killed 202 people, most of them Aussies. ph34r.gif

Australia, England and the US should boycott the island of Bali for a long while.
Let them know what we think of their justice. mad.gif

Somehow, I think that is already happening, by default. However, applying pressure on Indonesia in general can perhaps yield more telling long term results.

Remember, Australia has huge interests here and Indonesia is a perceived buffer for the Aussies over the perceived threat from China.

It will be interesting to see how this miscarrage of justice affects Australia and her actions towards Indonesia in the future.

Bali is waaay overated anyway. The sheer number of "touts" along the beaches and in town is enough to dissuade any western tourist.
Ain't a cheap destination either... wink.gif
