Richardson's baseball "scandal" was very, very minor. That won't stop him. Hillary will stop him. He is an honorable man and a very attractive and homespun candidate, perhaps he would make a good VP for the Hillster?

Re McCain vs Clinton, it would be close, not a steamroll for either party.
Curtis
He admitted that he was 'mistaken' when he said he was once drafted as a pro baseball player. While that by itself isn't a big deal, it does show evidence for bad political judgement.

Why is Hillary powerful within the DNC? As George Stephanopoulos once quoted, and this is a paraphrase, but it was something like "There is no central Democratic party, whoever can raise money from special interests can run." I don't see why Hillary can do that better than any of the other prominent candidates.

I think right now Kerry or Gore have the best shot. Tom Vilsack may have a shot too.

Because she possesses the massive amount of spport from those who actually vote in the DNC primaries: The far left wing of the party.

If anyone will be able to take her down though its Kerry or Gore, yeah.
Curtis
But that support will dissipate once she actually starts campaigning. People admire Hillary as a concept, not a person. Once they see what her personality is really like, they'll stop supporting her.

I agree. Her shrill voice would have all the dogs howling, and the average Joe thinking that the fingernail over the blackboard would be preferrable. Hillary could win only by totally avoiding the media AND not going to rallys. Perhaps she could have Budda do all the public speaking for her. Of course she would NEVER allow that to dampen her ego.

She will lose, in my opinion. there is nothing to admire about this...............person. Bubba is a "Good Old Boy", but Hillary is a "Bad Old Biddy".

TQ is your archetypal DNC Primary voter. If you want to know what the average primary voter thinks about Hillary, look at what TQ thinks. He's head over heels for her.

But again I agree that Kerry and Gore both have a chance to take her down if they play their cards right. Probably Kerry, I think. He was great on Meet The Press Sunday. Above all else he sounded DECISIVE, which will play well.

I would NEVER vote for Kerry again. He lost the election.
If Gore reprocessed himself, I would consider him, because he won his election, but had it stolen. However, he has done nothing serious to keep in the game, so I do believe he is now a footnote in history.
I love Feingold, he could never win, so I wouldn't waste my vote.
I would probably vote for Richardson over Hillary.
I still believe Hillary has the best shot of any demo to win the golden ring, the presidency.
Ben-T
Funny how every major study done into the Florida election says Bush won it, yet you have somehow figured out that they were all wrong. You are such a genius!

He lost an election, so what? So did Nixon.
Curtis
But Gore most definitely won the popular vote, by several hundred thousand votes.. That is what liberals mean when they say Gore won the elections.

Sigh,..............that is not the correct definition of winning the election. Remember, we are not a democracy, and the Founders did this On Purpose. Thus, AlGore did NOT win the election. One must have a certain amount of Electorial Votes in order to win. And that is Constitutional. Anything else if simply intellectual laziness, or triffling ignorance.

The reason why so many on the Left are bemoaning this, and saying such things is because they are either too ignorant, or stupid to know better: or they are willfully lying to themselves. Or all of the above.

It is a closed and shut case. The Kook fringe should learn to get over it and for once, start coming up with some positive reasons to vote FOR their candidates, not AGAINST their opponents.

Here is what the WSJ has to say about the Dems in this great piece on GM, France and Albany: What the declines of all three have in common.

QUOTE
This is the central problem the liberal wing of the Democratic Party faces as it plots what to do if it does regain power this year, or in 2008. Democrats will eventually win an election or two because of Republican ineptitude or an economic slowdown. But to govern for the long haul they need better ideas than trade barriers, a tax hike to increase the size of government, or the defense of the entitlement status quo.

They need to champion reforms to help individual workers better secure their own futures in a competitive global economy, rather than relying on the false hope of restoring the age of Walter Reuther. They need to promote portable pensions, cheaper health insurance and education choice. So far all we see is Jacques Chirac in American drag.
Curtis
Ben: TQ loves her now, but my point is that people love Hillary as a concept(professional 'alpha' woman and faithful wife of embattled and adulterous ex-president); they don't love the real Hillary. They will get to see the real Hillary in the primaries.

To give an example of what I'm talking about, think Wesley Clark. Democrats nearly wet themselves over the prospect of a 'saviour' liberal ex-general. Yet, as the joke went, "wherever Wesley Clark campaigned his poll numbers went down". The reality did not live up to the fantasy.

John: But Gore was still more popular with a majority of Americans than Bush was.
John L
At the time of the 2000 election, glibness was still in vogue. However, 9/11 changed all that. Bubba would have a harder time getting elected today than he did in the 90s. And he is the Ultimate example of Glibness. Bush is definately NOT glib. However, it is not important now, and as long as we are in danger of terror acts, it will not be The important thing. Bubba was the right man at the right time(personality wise), between crises.
Curtis
I think Clinton would have reacted better to 9/11 than Bush. He would practice moderation, and be more adaptable. A President who is good in peacetime would be good in wartime as well.

I completely disagree here. In times of peril, a leader MUST be willing and able to exercise Moral Courage and Strong Character. As likable as Bubba happens to be, he would Never have 'cut it' as a war time leader. He lacks Moral Courage: if he had it, he would have had the courage to admit his relationship with Monica Lewinski from the start. He lacks Moral Character because he is a true Sociopath.

List of Common Sociopathic Traits

1. Egocentricity

2. Callousness

3. Impulsivity

4. Conscience defect

5. Exaggerated sexuality

6. Excessive boasting

7. Risk taking

8. Inability to resist temptation

9. Antagonistic, deprecating attitude toward the opposite sex

10. Lack of interest in bonding with a mate

Generally, he fills out this list quite nicely, don't you think? Granted, he may have bonded with Hillary at one time in the past, but certainly not now. They have a...................relationship that is business in nature only. As Dick Morris once stated, "Hillary loves Bill, and Bill loves Bill". That is SO true!
Curtis
If those are the traits of a sociopath, than more than one president of this Great Republican have been sociopaths.

Well, aparantly you did not follow through completely. Did you really mean "Republican" or is is "Republic"? That is the only way I can make any sense out of your statement.

And if that is what you mean, you may be correct. Taft comes to mind. Another Democrat, by the way. However, none of them are as blatant or as recognizable as that of Bubba. Bubba is the consumate sociopath, although he is a fun guy to go around with and pick up hot chicks. He probably doesn't have to help undress his prizes. His soothing and sweet words do the undressing for him.

Every once and awhile this country needs a Great Distraction, to show us were we have swerved from the path, and Bubba has provided us with this notice, yet not really done everlasting harm to the nation. I thank him for that. AND, he did know how to keep from screwing with the US economical Golden Goose. For that I am eternally grateful.
Curtis
Heh, yeah, sometimes I go through periods where make I make mass amounts of typos. It has something to do with thinking faster than I can type. The most common thing is omitting words.
