PISSED OFF AMERICAN
Why do educated people continue to think that either Guliani or McCain will be the Republican nominee in 2008. These people are formidable general election candiates, but they will NEVER win a primary. The republicans will not nominate anyone with the taint of moderation. THe R's will nominate some amiable oaf like George Allen, Senator from Vigina and get hammered.

K, I'll be waiting for evidence.

So you are going to tell me that Guliani and McCain will do well enough in S Carolina, Mississippi and New Hampshire to go all the way to the end of the primary season in a party that is currently to the rightof Barry Goldwater. You are smoking some wakcy tobaccky if you believe that.

PISSED, got to ask! Who are you pissed at?

Are you a Republican? How is it you know this? Are you an inside the beltway man or lady maybe?

I get the idea you think there no moderate Republicans at all. Is that a fair assessment?

We are just 5 months from this 2 year, 1 billion dollar wing ding. Why be in a hurry to be concerned about that now 3 years and 7 months hence. It will start again in early 2007 any how?

That is all!

Just my opinion but I think that Guliani has a better chance than McCain does. I have also noted that Guliani has moderated his abortion stance in the last year to include his tollerence with embryos, but not fetuses. This may be enough to get him over the top.

I am a blue state American citizen, a refugee from the Beltway living in Owings MIlls, MD. I am pissed at the republicans who run my country and my state. No there are R "moderates" but they are so far to the right of the real world, it is not funny. It is that the party they are in has dragged them so far to the right.

Yacking about 2008 now is the fun part, when we get to 2008 we will be so caught up in the thing we wont have any fun at all

Specter, Chaffe, McCain, Guiliani, I could go on. The Medicaid and immigration policies of the Bush Admin. are also very centrist, wake up.

This is also a conservative nation, get over it.

Thanks for candid and apparently honest reply.

I don't know how long you have been around the political arena but there was a day that more than a third of all the so called Red States of the last 10 years where straight ticket Democratic states with moderate conservative leanings on defense and social issues.

Do you suppose they deserted the Democratic party? Or could it be that the Party was taken over by those that deserted them, their way of thinking and instead promoted increasingly disdain and frequent angry denouncements of these former group of loyalist to the Democratic party?

In 4 generations back from 2000, including myself and my family, not one close or distant relative in all those generations ever voted Republican.

Beginning in 2000, they all, to the person, have voted Republican nationally and Democratic locally.

I did not until 2004, as I realized the Democrats where no longer the party I was so loyal to all those years.

Do you suppose the loss of their voice in this party that has been more and more representative of those like yourself that voice loathing despise for their values in most intolerance disdaining ways, had anything to do with why conservatism and the Republicans have been steadily gaining more and more political power and liberalism and the Democrats have been losing steadily and equivalently every year since 1996?

Why do suppose the Democrats selection of a pretend moderate in Kerry instead of Dean, who is, I think you would agree, more representative of the rank and file Democrats of today that dominate the party.

Do you think this idea of moderate conservatives is not relevant in your ideology ever regaining dominance in the political arena any time soon?

Not meaning you specifically but IT’S THE RED STATES STUPID! that the Dean a monastic of the Democratic party needs to include.

Otherwise, as has been self evident of recent time, they shall remain buried with this currently unacceptable ideology of liberalism that is now dominate in the party of my father’s and my generation, which we no longer recognize as understanding us and our way of thinking.

That is all!

I think the conswervative movement to the R's started in the 70's. There were two things that occured to make this happen. First, the great Southern migration, this happened when companies started moving their headquarters from the Northeast to the South. The people that were moving to the South were upper middle class suburbanites, these people voted Rin the North, and continuted to do so in their new homes in the South. Second, was the nomination of George McGovern, and the Southern Startegy. The R's were very good at making Richard Nixon look conservative, against McGovern who woulnd't be conservative. Once conservative D's voted R they found that it wasn't a bad thing. THis Southern Strategy is still going on today, very successfully.

POA. I'm also pissed off. Mostly at the horribly corrupt system that has been around since nearly 100 year. The shite that is going on now can be traced back to Woodrow Wilson. The current administration is guilty of rampant overspending which will have long term effects. But they are also trying to permanently restructure the tax system which badly needs to be done. The reason the democrats lost recently is that they offered nothing new to the equation.
We are now seeing history being made in the ME. And it is way overdue. All Kerry was doing was playing to the pissed off morons still debating the 2000 election. He would have returned the ME back to the shite hole mess it was before.
Even though the media are trying not to show it ME stability is taking place.
What you should be pissed at is why the IRS still exists! Disbanding the IRS and a complete restructure of our tax system should be our #1 domestic agenda. More harm has been done to the fabric of our society though overtaxation(and deceptive taxation) than anything else.
Get a grip and get over Al Gore.
