I am opposed to certain parts of the RealID act. The fact that it makes for easy ID theft and contains lots of personal information is particularly troublesome. Also, I don't like how the Republicans passed it through Congress. They attached to a military spending bill so it wouldn't get any debate. That's cowardly and trashy. Another bad idea is to let the Director of Homeland Security decide all by himself what information can be added to the card.
I do like the idea of making IDs harder to get. If they mean you are a legal citizen, then you should prove you are legal before you get one. However, I think simply asking for higher standards may have been better. But why create a national database? Why not just require higher standards?
I'd love to know what you guys think.

Seems to me they are already using a national database system of id with everyones SS #. Though they aren't supposed to be using your SS# for id purposes.
Most police are running around now with laptops linked to their database. It is almost scary the amount of information they have at their fingertips already.
Trouble with this is the really bad guys will always be able to circumvent the system. I'm sure they already know how to stay off the US "radar".

I would think if anything it would make it more difficult for ID theft.
Seems harmless to me. MARK
