The Bush administration is in luck; it has embraced magical thinking about spending just as many citizens have done the same.

Thats funny, considering there is nary a serious economist who treats that defecit as much more than a political football.

It's my business because when USA falls down, the whole world will feel the economic impact. You fools will find out the hard way, the conseqences of Bushite's economic and foreign policy. For me, I was not spoiled, I don't need cable T.V or alcoholic beverages, if worst comes to worst, I will move to Turkey, but what the hell are you material addict rednecks gonna do????

Both our Deficit as a percentage of GDP and our total Debt as a percentage of GDP is lower than what we experienced in the 80s and early 90s. That period was followed by the largest economic expansion in the history of the world. We will survive this period as well. MARK

Os,

If you're so well trained and able to live in any country in the world, then go right ahead. The point still remains, what you think about the US doesn't matter. It shouldn't bother you if you'd be happy in Turkey.

Out of curiosity, where are you from? Are you claiming that you're not from an industrialized society? That would be the only way you could possibly justify being uppity about being "spoiled" by Cable TV. But you have the internet, so you must live in a technologically advanced country. Living without TV prevents you from being spoiled? I think the internet is a much greater sign of comfort and wealth than a TV. And alcohol? Dude, virtually every country in the world has some form of alcoholic drink. Americans don't drink more alcohol than Europeans do. My experience is that we drink much less than the Europeans I know.

US economic foreign policy is the entire world's business..... huh.gif

Depending on how you look at it, the debt can have it's positive side. It gives the US leverage for control of China's economic expansion. Most of the debt is owed to China. If the US dollar devalues China loses billions in debt repayment.

There is nary a serious economist who believes that a defecit is much more than a political football.

In fact, John Maynard Keynes, the founder of what was modern economics until the advent of Supply Side Economics believed that a defecit was actually a good thing. As for supply siders, they moreorless ignore defecits.
John L
Close Ben. Actually Classical "Supply-Side" Economics was there before John Maynard Keynes came on to the scene. The word you misused was "Advent" , which should be "resurgence", or "reemergence". wink.gif

Sure, "defecit is good", "war is good", "war is peace", "Mickey Mouse is Evil"...... yes, yes, good one lunatic.

P.S, why is the city of Detroit going to lay off 1/3 of their police and fire dept, during a "war on terror" if "defecits are good"??

How long and how often have we been having these discussions, reading links and opinions, as to the eminent demise of the US Economy and the US all together just here.

Any bets, we can see, links, articles, books and debates of similar demise in well considered thought from the 1950’s, 1960’s 1970’s for sure, the early 1980’s, later 90’s and up and until now

Its like yelling Fire in a crowed theater and there is one, anyone who thinks they are not going to be in the crush or burned or left unscathed as if on a sinking boat in the North Atlantic with few life boats, is either unconscious or ill conscious of the economic interdependent reality of the world we live in.

( Pain lusting voyeurs and sadomasochist excluded, of course, as they love pain and suffering I hear.) unsure.gif ohmy.gif

That is all!
