McCain doesn't stand a chance. The Media loves him, but they vote democratic by a 8 to 2 margin. The Democrats love him as a republican, but that is it. No way McCain can wion the nomination. His best shot was against Clinton in '96 and he bowed out for Dole. Senators don't do well anyway. Senators have public voting records that can be used aginst them. No matter how they vote, sombody will hate it. It will certainly be an interesting Primary season. Hill-de-beast is unelectanle and the Repubs know it. They don't make walk in closets big enough to hold all her skeletons. '06 and '08 will be referendums on the Iraq part of the WoT. While the polls show a decline in support for military operations in Iraq, that was a function of the question. If asked 'would you rather fight in Iraq or the USA, which would you choose?" 90% would say Iraq. And that is the choice. we fight there, we fight here, or we surrender.
The Demonrats claim there is a 4th postion, but when asked, they won't say what it is. American voters are just a sophisticated as european voters and know bullshit when they hear it. So the Dems will get slaughterd again in '06. Unless, of course, they can come up with a realistic 4th option, in which case I will even vote for Hill-de-beast, even if she lets her Hitler moustach grow out the rest of the way.
McCain's best shot is running as Hill-de-beats's VP. Still won't win, but it will make it close. Since he is a RINO, it isn't impossible that he takes a shot at the VP slot and hopes that AQ gets lucky.

To tell the truth I am depressed about the GOP's selection in 08. While I certainly feel we will see the GOP win, I don't know if there are really any tough Foreign Policy NeoCons that can come into office and keep the Bush Doctrine on track.

I really think it is time for the USA to have its first black woman president. That would send a strong signal of ethnic and gender diversity to the rest of the world. Ms Rice would make a fine President. IMHO!

Relax Ben. We are three years out. The political landscape can change in a week (or less). Let's concentrate on 06 first. One step at a time. wink.gif

Well, here is my two cents on this subject.

Back in the year 2000 I was prepared to give my vote to Mr. McCain, in the primary, in order to stop George from making it. But he backed out of the race before we had our primary.

If Mr. McCain would have ran, against Al Gore, and won the presidency, I feel that it would have been a win-win situation for me. I do like Mr. McCain on the way he works with Democrats. Although he was supporting Bush, during the 2004 race, I emailed his office to inform him that I deeply appreciated the way he publicly defended Mr. Kerry on those Swift Boat ads and the rift that all of that nonsense was causing with our Vietnam War Veterans.

I've got it: Hilary Clinton for Prez, and Marian Edelman as her Vice Prez, both as declared lesbian Republicans~

Against them, the Democrats could nominate Strom Thurmond.

Hahahahahaha.

Grizz, you're a registered Republican!?!? ohmy.gif

No, not really. But if that guy ever made President, I wouldn't be worried about him. wink.gif

Oh.

To vote in a party's primaries you have to be a registered member of said party.

I think some states allow primary voters to cross party lines, or to falsely declare their preference. It happens sometimes, in those states, that voters who are sure their own vote won't matter in the primary of their own party, will go over to the other side and try to get the wrong candidate nominated.
