Look Americans, when you travel abroad you are subject to the laws of the foreign country.
It is just plain arrogance to complain about the legal systems of other countries, especially by Americans who hold on to barbaric measures such as the death penalty.
In the case of the family of the missing girl, they seem to be suggesting that the jailed suspects should be tortured to spill the beans.
It isn't going to happen and it should not happen.

I couldn't agree more. It's their country, their laws, and our citizens went over there. Therefore, they must respect Aruban authority.

Now, if only you applied that same, commonsense logic to illegal aliens here in our country. They are breaking our laws, and they should be punished for it...

(If I have your position on illegal immigration confused with someone else on this board, I apologize).

Ahh, but TQ will simply ignore your brilliant rebuttal here. It would be too easy to prove hyprocricy, don't you know?

Don't do what I do, do what I say. laugh.gif

If you have followed my thoughts on illegal immigration, I am very anti illegal immigration, so both attacks are unfair.

Perhaps you should be a bit more outspoken then, like you are about socialized medicine. Then you would not be so misunderstood. blink.gif

Think about what you just said. You are a critic of America and our society. You are a critic our ways and our laws. Yet, you find fault with us when we find fault with someone else's legal system.

Two sides, same coin. You may not have a problem with anti illegal alien statements, but you sure have problems with many other parts of our domestic legal system. After all, didn't you just call the death penalty barbaric? You have shown yourself to be a hypocrite!

I wouldn't mind so much if you weren't one of those holier-than-thou-because-I-am-a-leftist whackos.

I think you are very confused.
I am an American citizen.
It is my duty as a citizen to participate in American democracy and this includes CRITICIZING the things about America that I disagree with. Of course, just so you know, there are some things that I think are very good about America.
However, it really is not our role to try to alter other countries legal justice systems.
If you can't handle that, you shouldn't ever leave the US borders.

Gotcha dude. I missed that you are an American citizen. My apologies. And congratulations!

I have spent time in Mexico and Belize, and believe me, I did whatever I knew to stay out of trouble. It could be a very bad thing to get in trouble when you are an outsider.

Case in point...a big-city man robbing a gas store in some Appalachian hillbilly town with only dirt roads. It would be as likely as not that the big-city man would never be seen again.
