Democrats' own mood poll scares them

Jun. 29, 2005 at 10:48AM

A poll on the political mood in the United States conducted by the Democratic Party has alarmed the party at its own loss of popularity.
Conducted by the party-affiliated Democracy Corps, the poll indicated 43 percent of voters favored the Republican Party, while 38 percent had positive feelings about Democrats.

The national Democratic party is out of touch with the American voters. The last two elections proved it. They couldn't even get Gore elected, and then they choose a liberal Massachussetts loser. It's the party's own fault.

I'm tempted to suggest that they nominate Max Cleland - surely he's a war hero - but he already lost an election. Maybe the Republicans should find the worst draft dodger in Canada, bring him home, and nominate him.

The messgae America keeps sending them is so easy to understand and follow: PLEASE, JUST NOMINATE A MODERATE.

All the better for us that they keep thinking America will elect socialist traitors like Kerry.

I see no response from the lefties here.

Cmon lefties! Explain to us why America hates your party so.

Hillary Clinton is recrafting herself as we speak.
She will meet the need.

Hahah. They always think they are going to win next time. Whether next time is 2000, 2002, 2004, or now 2006/2008. They're so cute when they think victory is in their grasp!

Al Gore was from Tennesse, that didn't help him.

The USA would benefit from a more democratic system of Proportional Representation such as New Zealand now has as does Norway, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and many other countries.

At present, many voters views are not even represented in Congress which appears to be dominated by big business.
Infact, many American voters often dont even vote.

The way it works is eg. if 16% vote for the Greens then they have 16% of Congress; if 23% vote for Liveral Democrats, they have 23% of congress and so on.

This is well explained at

Are you for real?

Well, Gore actually did win in 2000, but the "elites" didn't think they wanted him, so they got Bush instead, but that's a whole different argument.

Democrats are in trouble because they no further platform than "anti-Bushisms", which won't get them too far. In order for Democrats to gain any sort of credibility, they need to originate some sort of platform that deals with issues instead of finger pointing.

This is true. The Dems are only nay-saying without even offering a solution. I agree.

No, he didn't. I spent many, many hours pouring over Florida Supreme Court rulings and Federal Supreme Court rulings, news reports, the statements from Florida's attorney general, etc. I also perused the Florida state constitution to see what that state's law says. Further, I looked at the actual methods of the ballot recounts (shudder.) If can find the time, I'll pool all that together again and post it. But since that is nearly 5 years old, I wasn't sure many people would appreciate that discussion yet again.

It took a lot of internet research, let me tell you. But you can do the research yourself. All those documents are all public access directly from the respective supreme courts' web sites.

By the "elites" I assume you mean every single major research of the Florida election that was held, all of which awarded the state to Bush?

The fact is it doesn't matter if your a republican or a democrat, they're both full of ######.

America, and the world in general, is screwed. Why is it?

I know the immediate answer that popped into many american's heads was "because the pussy democrats/neo-cons are idiots." Very lame and unintelligent answer. When you step back and look at the system and its consequences we see that they are all a product of the actions of our elected representatives.

-Lets just face it and admit that our sloth and ignorance caused us to give up control of our country a long time ago-

When you look at these representatives and the atmosphere in politics we see that every politician is self seving power hungry jagoff, regardless of whether or not they started out that way. Every single one. There is no possible way to blame all problems on one small point on the ideological spectrum, which brings up another rediculous facet of american politics.

The political ideology. Americans love to blab about freedom and individuality, and non conformity and the like. But when it comes down to it americans are just as big of sheep as any other person on the planet.

We have an political spectrum that is infinite and holds the posibility of an infinite amount of unique ideology. However, we see that americans have have taken a miniscule portion of that spectrum, marked by the "left" or the "right" and completely confined themselves to these to ideologies, or some slight variation. The fact that americans would even adherel themselves to a label(ie left or right) is a very infringement upon the values of which we like to throw in everyone's face.

Then there is the real american values. From the time of our forefathers (real americans) to now, the rich and the slothful have perverted our values and taught us that indivuduality is no longer thinking for yourself, but instead means always being right. American's grow up beleiving that the right to hold your own informed opinions now means that your opinion, no matter how uninformed, is always correct.

How does this tie in to political parties? It all has to do with the american mob mentality. What good is ihaving your own opinion if no one agrees with you? (for it is the american insecurity fostered by our consumer culture that causes us to constantly seek approval)

SO we come to the conclusion. American's choose political parties (usually based on the unquestioned values instilled in them by an exploitative society). Because it is so much easier to sit around farting with your hand down your pants while watching baseball than it is to read and form a worthwhile opinion, we gobble up the BS we hear from advertising and politicians (who are inherently liars and can not tell the truth) and use those regurgitated idea and pass them off as our own opinion. Then, because our perverted sense of individuality means that we must always feel that we are right in order to calm our insecurities, we choose a side and without question, every single concept held by that ideology, since you belong to it, is right, and the other side is always wrong. Nice goin america. We've managed to sell ourselves for cable (700 channels of ###### you dont like) and fast food. Then we blame all of our problems on the other side so we don't have to take any of the blame, we can keep on getting fat and stupid and never have to hold ourselves accountable because "its the pussy liberal/neo-cons fault"

QUOTE ( from GOP4life's article)
Fellow strategist James Carville said the war in Iraq and rising fuel prices are affecting party loyalty as well.
"The country is just in a foul mood," Carville said. He noted within the same poll, 56 percent of Americans say the country is headed in the wrong direction.

Yes, foul mood, indeed! I agree! cool.gif

You kind of look the fool trying to tell others what "we see", "We have", "we like" and " we come to the conclusion" about in regards to Americans. I can assure you, although you may speak for some small, irrelevant portion of society, you dont even come close on the overwhelming majority of Americans. MARK

"Our country"?? Implying not other countries. What countries have not "give(n) up control " of their country to politicians? Are we the only country to do so? Or are you comparing us to some mythical government you have imagined? MARK
