"I'm innocent. This is a conspiracy," said former rock star Gary Glitter as he was led away from a Vietnamese courtroom on Friday.

But the judge thought otherwise, sentencing him to three years in jail for committing lewd acts against two young girls, and describing the disgraced rocker as having "a sickness";

Glitter jailed for abusing girls;

Personally i do not think his sentence was harsh enough, and that he should get a much longer sentence, years longer- but i do hope that in all this controversy, that perhaps this really will spark more concern and action against vietnams sex trade, as its somthing that is very bad and there has not been done alot about it over the decades. Hopefully this isn't somthing though that will fizzle-out once the hype and interest about glitter's case dies down...

Shows...what stance? A "NO" on raping children?

Well, I'm glad they do.

Sadly not, Paul Gadd was able to buy the parents of the children off, and the charge was reduced from sex with a minor, that carried a potential death sentence, to committing lewd acts, for which the maximum was seven years. He got three years.

Ah, missed that.

Less than encouraging.

He got off easy! People like this should have their genitals cut off and shoved in their mouthes before being hung! mad.gif
That's the cure!

The guy has cooked his goose well and truly. I am looking forward to him completing his time and being returned to the UK.

Then the papers can hound him for the next ten........... I hope it's a living h-ll for him

He is a sick person, I think, he needs medical treatment.
In UK he was only looking at pictures, downloaded from the internet (who put that there for download?) otherwise nothing is really known about him...
In Cambodia he was asked to leave, but no criminal charges were filed against him, what did he do? Something is said about children, but no lawsuit. - In Vietnam he had some contact with children - but what contacts is unclear...nobody could hear, what was said in court.

In Asia, mostly age of consent is 18 or 20 - If you want to be on the safe side, make sure, your girl is 21+. There are plenty small girls in Asia, who are looking like 13 if you compare them with American women, but they are of full age.

As a foreigner, be very careful in Asia, never have sex with an underage girl. A girl not 18 years old (in some countries 20) is underage, and you might spend many years in prison. Parental right is very strong in Asia, and if parents insist to send the lover of their underage girl (even if she is 17 years and 9 months!) to jail, they will be successful.

Law is much stricter than in Europe or in the USA, especially if parents do not agree with the relationship.
Do not make the mistake and think, in Asia you can do what you like.
