People are pissed. Pissed about the charade in DC over illegal immigration, pissed about rising health care costs/insurance, pissed about the rising cost of gasoline and pissed in general at the bulltits in DC.

The time is perfect for a vibrant charismatic individual to shake up the political landscape. The right platform at this point could even get him into the Whitehouse. Put simply only 35% of the electorate would do it. And as I recall when Perot ran the first time that idiot got close to 20%.

Here's the platform that would do it........................................

1) Seal off the Mexican border. Round up and deport all unemployed illegals and slap a 50% tariff on all private monies transferred to Mexico.

2) Set a goal for oil self sufficiency. Open up Alaska and all the coastlines for oil extraction immediatly. Work with private industry to find the most economical way to harvest our shale oil deposits.

3) Address the health care issue. Starting with malpractice tort reform and audits of health and malprctice insurane providors.

4) Vow to continue the war on terror to protect Americans and our allies.

Now I realize a President's powers are limited but Congress would be pressed to go along with this adgenda if that is what got that President elected.

Any othr thoughts on what this platform should include???

5) Address the ignorance issue. Each American must hold a passport and travel abroad at least once every two year. This would open their minds and procure targets for local guerrillas.

I am disgusted with the Republican party. However, I plan to vote for McCain in '08 because I will be voting on THE SOLE ISSUE of the defecit, and he is the candidate most likely to curb the defecit, I believe. Even though he is disgustingly liberal on some other issues.

By the end of this year we are schedualed to have less than 100,000 troops in Iraq, and by midway through 2008 we are schedualed to have almost no real presence in Iraq, so I will ignore it for now. I am also going to assume that by 2008 the Iranian issue will be resolved. As such, I will focus on other things:

-Drastic action on the defecit immediately

-Militarize the border with Mexico until such a time as President Fox agrees to get his immigration under control.

-Preparing for military strikes into the Waziristan region of Pakistan aimed at apprehending Ayman Al-Zawahiri and Osama bin Laden.

-Welfare reform

-Healthcare reform aimed at introducting the proper MARKET based reforms that will get people reasonably priced access to healcare

I think if the third party concentrated on the domestic issues and targetted the younger generations they could win. It's kind of like what they said in the matrix, once you reach a certain age you can't be taken out of the system. The older voters aren't going to be as confident voting for a third party candidate. With that in mind I think it'd be wise to gear the platform towards those younger voters. Things such as removing social security and fixing the deficit would strike a cord with them and would build up their confidence in the government. If that happend you'd see the death of the republican-democrat party.

You are hilarious!
Young people DO NOT VOTE in significant numbers.
Go ahead and just TRY to kill social security!
Ha ha ha.
Mobster989
That is true that they don't vote in significant numbers. I chalk that one up to the fact that most of them aren't retired. Which means on election day, which just so happens to always be on a Tuesday, that most of them are working. Are they more concerned with voting for one of two crappy choices or getting paid which means they can eat for that week?

But if you look at demographics most of the US population is between the ages of 16-40. Those are the people who COULD be voting in the next presidential election. They also just so happen to be the ones who seek to lose the most from the SS deal which is scheduled to run in the red by 2042. The only thing that needs to be done is get them interested in politics. You start talking in $$ to them and their eyes will open wide. Things like a removing a 12% payroll tax would be a start to warming them up to voting.

American people have proven they do NOT vote on economic self interest, otherwise, how do you explain bush winning two times? They voted for tax cuts for a tiny percentage of RICH PEOPLE, voted to screw themselves. I applaud your interest in politics but you are destined for total failure in adoption of your views.
Mobster989
"They" as in the majority of voters, which just so happend to be mostly over the age of 65. Sounds to me like it is time to get some fresh blood into the political arena.

Now that maud has reopened this thread......and Haupt has been banned...etc.,

Ross Perot had one issue: it's the economy (stupid). The only giant sucking sound you heard was that of Republicans rushing to vote for a crazy man. And it put Clinton in the White House.

I think Teddy Roosevelt is the only third party candidate to ever get elected president. Usually big 3rd party candidates for president merely focus the debate on a certain issue, as Perot did. Then the two parties go back to two nearly identical flavors of fudge ripple.

Politics is too complex to be defined by one single issue. Campaigning, as Perot learned the hard way, is a huge endeavor. It takes boxcars full of money. I'd love to see national politics have 4 or 6 parties, but it's extremely difficult to even have three.

Buchanan-Nader are Americanists. Edwards, Obama and all of the rest (both parties)
are internatioinalists who are controlled by both the multinational corporations and
multicultural pressure groups.
