An Illinois congressman has persuaded the House Appropriations Committee to pass an amendment that would block spending federal money on the proposed Knik Arm and Ketchikan bridges.

Representative Mark Steven Kirk is a Republican who represents suburban Chicago. He offered his amendment Tuesday at a committee meeting to an appropriations bill for several federal agencies. The bridges from Anchorage to the Matanuska-Susitna Borough and from Ketchikan to Gravina Island would cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

That "Bridge to nowhere" will be a bridge to somewhere once people can cross the water and develop the land across from Anchoraqge to the north. Nothing's gonna happen until we can get a bridge built. Now some buttinski from Chicago thinks he can amend a bill so we are forbidden from using the FEDERAL money already given to us to build this bridge?

What, does he think he's gonna get this money back or something? If not the bridge, it'll just get wasted on "feel good" programs and more free stuff to all those who aren't willing to work.

Time to SHUT THE HELL UP if you're not from my state and keep your FEDERAL nose out of my business!

Jeez! mad.gif
