And now we have the emrgence of the confusion in the liberal/baby boomer federalist argument for illgeal racist mexican labor.
The core (tho' flawed and false) argument is their labor value...
The problem is the complaint that they are being underpaid! ROFL

Illegal Workers Face Hardship in Big Easy
By RUKMINI CALLIMACHI
Associated Press Writer

NEW ORLEANS - Illegal immigrants helping to rebuild this shattered city are working in hazardous conditions without protective gear and earning far less than their legal counterparts, a study says.

Nearly one-third of the illegal immigrants interviewed by researchers reported working with harmful substances and in dangerous conditions, while 19 percent said they were not given any protective equipment, according to the study by professors at Tulane University and the University of California at Berkeley.

Illegal immigrants also were paid significantly less - if at all - earning on average $10 per hour, compared with $16.50 for documented workers, the study said.

"What is fundamentally unfair is these are workers who have responded to a national priority to rebuild this city and yet whose rights are being violated," said Laurel Fletcher, director of Berkeley's International Human Rights Law Clinic and one of the study's co-authors.

Under federal labor law, illegal immigrants are afforded the same health and safety protections as documented workers. And regardless of their legal status, laborers can sue most employers under the Fair Labor Standards Act for violation of the minimum wage law and overtime regulations, according to the researchers.

The U.S. Department of Labor had no immediate comment on the report.

Before last year's hurricane, Louisiana had one of the smallest Hispanic populations in the country - 2.5 percent of residents compared with 12.5 percent nationally.

Census data indicates nearly 100,000 Hispanics moved to the Gulf Coast region following Hurricane Katrina, lured by promises of high wages and plentiful work. It is unclear precisely how many have come to New Orleans, though the study estimates one-quarter of the construction workers in New Orleans are illegal immigrants.

This is a well staged platform from which to establish another welfare system for those who are not our citizens.

What rights? I thought that the point of illegal aliens (according to McCain and Kennedy and Bush) is that they do jobs others "won't" do! So apparently they proclaim that they will work for less, but when we doing so they scream human rights! WTF!?!? All this does is undermine their value as a labor force, lol.

Yeah, they should act like the good slaves that they are, huh?

Well you and I actually agree on something. I believe this is partially the republican argument for illegal immigration. That mexicans will work for nothing.

No, we don't need slaves or illegal immigrants. Things are out of hand. We are a laughingstock to the world. Name one other country whose immigration is more out of control than ours?

There are none to name.

Can you really blame the Mexicans though...some of them have really have no lives there in their own country. We need to remember that these people are human beings too. The same people who pick up your change when you drop it, the same people who let you pass when you're walking in the road, the same people who we take for granted everyday. All they want to do is make a life for themselves, and its not going to happen in thier country.

So why doesn't the outrage Left go down to Mexico and protest the corrupt govenment. Hell it is a lot easier than going to Iraq and protesting ours. wink.gif

And that is our problem ... how?

The reason they get paid less is that there are more wetbacks then locusts. Labor is a commodity just like anything else. If you have a hundred people seeking the same job that job ain't gonna pay sh!t. If an employer can't find someone to fill a job he will offer more until he finds someone to work for what he pays. These dumb fn wetbacks are driving down wages just by their sheer numbers. Yeah, Americans don't want those jobs anymore because the wetback invaison has driven down the wages of these jobs.

The rule of law, right-wingers, is what you scream about, and when your legally appointed legislators pass legal laws under the rule of law, specifying minimum wages and safety and occupation laws, you complain that everybody gets the protection of the law.

Hoisted on your own petard. Welcome to the right wing harikari parade.

My best friend's lover, Jai, was lured from China by a legal Chinese-American who promised him a green card and a good wage. But Jai was only paid a wage far below the legal minimum. Jai took him to labor court, won the award, and collected the judgment. After that, however, Jai could not find work, and his green card expired without a sponsor. After working illegally in Atlanta, working hard as a waiter in a Chinese restaurant with Mexicans, Jai finally went to Canada, where they welcomed him with open arms.

And you thought Toronto was a cold place; try Houston and Atlanta. And Jai isn't Hispanic!!

The point of the article, for you racist right-wingers who missed it, is that ILLEGAL ALIENS HAVE RIGHTS, AND THE PROTECTION OF THE RULE OF LAW.

This is all nonsense, of course. If the Illegals were paid the same wges as Citizens, there would be no illegals. Crooks hire Illegasl and exploit them to make a larger profit by putting their competetion out of business.
Stopping Illegal immigration is easy. You put the folks hiring illegals in jail.
11/29 the first pop, 3 years the second, 10 the third. Life after that. Plus you take away everything they (and their wife, brother, son, etc.) own each time.
Remove the profit and there is no longer any motivation for hiring illegals.
Dubbau needs to listen to Kinky on this issue.
Cracking down on the Employers will stop the flow of people coming for work. That will make infiltrators and smugglers much easier to pick up. It will also lead to a Socialist Revoluntion in Mexico. America is the safety valve for Mexico. They send the people that should be rioting in the streets and forming Lynch mobs for the extraordinarly corrupt Mexican Government off to America where they work and send money back to Mexico. That keep the lid on in Mexico just enought to make the revolution that is inevitable a real corker when it happens.
I'm not sure if this is part of some master plan or just basic stupidity. I tend to go with stupid most of the time. Nobody has ever gone broke betting on human stupidity.
I only think 'Plan' because it's been almost 100 years since America last invaded Mexico. It just might be time to annex parts of Mexico.
Mexicans are good people for the most part. They deserve better then what they are getting today. They know that and will get it.
Either by a very violent Revolution ala Cuba or thru being annexed by America. If put to a vote, I think most mexicans would vote for a Mexico with a real government, not a socialist one, nor to be an American territory like the PR or Guam.
