El Piolín por la Mañana

Posted by The Watchdog - August 23rd, 2006 This guy is huge. He’s primarily responsible for energizing the estimated 500,000 illegal aliens and their supporters in Los Angeles for the Gran Marcha. Communist groups like ANSWER and MAPA organized the speakers but this morning radio show host brought the masses into the streets. He was the first to walk out and greet the roaring crowd and they treated him like a God. I didn’t know who the hell he was at the time. I figured he was a Mexican rock star or something.

A voice for Latinos
Santa Ana man is the No. 1 morning radio host in Southern California, with an audience of millions.

The Orange County Register

SANTA ANA - Before he became Southern California's No.1 morning disc jockey, Eduardo Sotelo hoped for the impossible.

The 7-year-old grew up in a family that barely earned enough to eat. Still, he yearned for a bicycle he could ride to school.

Selling lemon ice cream in front of his home in Ocotlán, Mexico, wasn't going to cut it. So he scored a job at a bicycle shop, making about five pesos every two weeks. Three pesos went to his mother. The rest funded one bicycle part each payday. The flashy pedals. The rims. The handlebars.

A year later he had built his dream – a burgundy bicycle that he took to school only once before it mysteriously vanished.

It's this determination that pushes him through life. It led him at age 16 to fold himself into the trunk of a car with two others and sneak into the United States.

"I almost lost my life," Sotelo explains. "It makes you appreciate what you have."

Twenty years later, the Saddleback High School graduate has the most morning listeners in Southern California, according to Arbitron's spring ratings. His nationally syndicated show is "El Piolín por la Mañana" ("Tweety Bird in the Morning") on La Nueva 101.9.

His drive is contagious.

Sotelo helped spur a public wave of activism in the spring that Americans haven't seen in the U.S. since the 1960s. He and other radio personalities urged half a million people to take to the streets across the country, protesting a bill in Congress that would have made it a felony to be in this country illegally.

His voice is often the first many hear while making breakfast, dressing the children for school or on their way to work. He's heard daily by many of the nation's 40 million

Communist, you say? A fellow traveller with the pinkos who didn't exist in the 1950's, although Senator McCarthy of Wisconsin lied that they were? Where is the gentleman's membership card in the Communist Party, or the Radical CP? Do you really believe all that manure?

Our Dean of Students said that in Appleton, Wisconsin, there's a pet cemetery on one side of town, and there was a dog buried on the other side. She meant Senator McCarthy. I think Pat Nixon (the pretty, young, rich Black one, not the president's wife) and I integrated one of Appleton's beer bars around that time. And we were Republicans then!

In other words, I think the Communist conspiracy theories are a bit out of fashion.

We have to stop illegal immigration because they steal the jobs, because open competition is inherently communist?

Maybe that's the argument, Ben; I don't know. I think most right-wing political conservatives are capitalists who believe in free trade and globalization. Now, how that relates to illegal immigration, I don't know. Maybe it's a smoke-screen in some cases for bigotry against Hispanics. I think the USA doesn't have the testicular fortitude (balls) to guard its own borders, because the manufacturing sector wants cheap laborers, and politicians need cheap Nannies for their kids and and to clean their mansions.

Nah, I think it's mainly bigotry, now that the poor Whites can't blame Blacks for taking all the low ranking jobs anymore. Meanwhile. we had a Secretary of Education born on the King Ranch, descended from Mexican-Americans going back centuries on the same land. The attorney general of Texas was a Tex-Mex kid from San Antonio, with a law degree from Harvard or Yale (he delivered the commencement address at my daughter's M.Ed. ceremony). Then there were Henry Cisneros, the mayor of Denver; the list goes on. Come to think of it, they were all.......Democrats.

Your good old boy rant makes no sense, but then again you will also die without anyone caring.

Ben is perfectly aware of how illegal immigration affects the United States as it relates to the rule of law. I mean, all political realists know this? Right?

I think we all agree that every country has the responsibility to guard its borders. We don't agree HOW the borders should be guarded.

The false ideas that Hispanic aliens are not good for America, however, rings hollow when we consider that most of them have better family values than White non-Hispanic native citizens. Hispanic immigrants are, generally, more willing to work hard at crappy jobs. And they are usually more afraid of the police than Whites and Blacks are in the USA. They're good Catholics whose macho men don't like to keep their johnson in their bikini pants, and it takes them two generations to stop over-reproducing. Unlike Americans, they're eager to learn a second language (for survival purposes).

I wonder what my old Honduran-Mexican houseboy is doing now in Houston. Probably on his way up to his third job, probably impregnated a beautiful 18 year old White girl, living happily in an apartment on which he's paying full rent, Anglicizing himself so his name is something like "Lester Olsen." Passing for White already. You go, Lester.
