Campaigning in California on Wednesday, Sen. John Kerry acknowledged that ex-president Bill Clinton's book tour was overshadowing his presidential campaign, telling a crowd in San Jose:

"I’m told we’ve got about 2,000 people out here. All the rest of the Democrats are at the Clinton book signings."

While the remarks were supposedly delivered in jest, Kerry campaign officials have been wincing all week as the ex-president inadvertently reminds America of what happened the last time Democrats ran the White House: Sex scandals at home and unchecked terrorism abroad.

BILL CONTINUES HILLARY '08 CAMPAIGN

Anyone who thinks the release of Bill Clinton's memoirs is not carefully timed so as to take attention away from The Poodle has another thing coming. Saturday Night Bill knows that if Kerry wins, his wife will probably never be president. So essentially, the Clinton media maneuvering is all designed to doom the candidacy of The Soufflé. We're already seeing it play out.

Last night on Larry King, Clinton once again praised the Bush administration's efforts in Iraq (don't be distracted by Clinton's little side argument about waiting for inspections to be completed.) This is at least the second time Clinton has praised the Bush administration...saying that he would have basically done what George Bush did, and that in a post 9-11 world, Saddam could not be ignored. There was also the time that Clinton defended Bush by saying that "he's just doing that he said would do" when he ran in 2000.

Now...imagine you're The Poodle. You and your underlings are out there trying to bash President Bush as much as possible, and trying to convince the public that he misled the nation and is a liar. At the very same time this is going on, President Clinton, the last Democratic president and the heaviest hitter of your party is out there absorbing the spotlight and praising your opponent. What do you do? The answer is nothing....there's nothing sKerry can do. He's stuck.

The Clintons will see to it that the candidacy of John Kerry is doomed. You just watch.
