Halliburton is no longer an American company, allowing them to trade with Iran. With the sanctions against Iran in lpace, it is illegal for American companies to trade with Iran - thus the move. This isn't as much of a tax loss for the US, though, because Halliburton was already registered in the Caymen Islands for tax purposes.
