Yes, yet if you are really Chinese In China and not in some other country perhaps you should be asking those in China this question, don't you think.

You Might want to look over the forum rules, lightly enforced, but we do try not to personalize our rebukes and sometimes people do insult others, but have a thick skin, few mean anything personal in it all, after all this is not reality, it is more like make you own reality you know.

Dionysus and Jesus; both were said to have been born from a virgin mother, a mortal woman, but fathered by the king of heaven, to have returned from the dead, to have transformed water into wine, and to have been liberator of mankind. NOT TO CHINESE IS IT?

[size=2]thank you . i just want to check.

many things if you do not experience, you never know.

i mean there are lots of paradox things. for instance, about the pirated software.

sometimes, i saw a guy was captured by police officers just because he sold pirated software which is worth 2 or 3 dollars. he would be put into police station for 48 hours.

you never seen a police station in China. the life in a police station is the worst one in this world ,i think.

i can confirm if you stay in a police station for one day, you will kill yourself.

my question is how can the police officers treat a guy like this?

because 2 or 3 dollars?/size][font=Arial]

so one day i talked to the police man when he captured some guys.

these unemployed guys sell illegal copies, they need money to raise their kids.

i mean you cannot put them into jail or some places just because 2 dollars.

but police man told me that our president Hu had promised to Bill Gates in 2006, China's government will fight against the illegal copies.

so, what should i do? protest to police officers? or ignore what i saw. the guys violated the law,so they have to be put into jail. i do not know.

i just want to know Americans' opinion.

P.S.close you brackets with a [ and ] and you see how it changes your posts also in you font=arial make sure at the end you use /font with brackets to the ledt and right [ ] to close the string, just wanted you to know. First, most but not all here are Americans from the USA but not all.

Second, I would not hold your breath about piracy ending any time soon. I have seen it in Taipei, Bangkok, Dubia and many other places, it is rampant, if laws actually stopped criminals, then we would not have any crime would we?

As I recall as it been now three years I think since I last was in China, dropping a dime to a policeman is still rather common practice is it not?

The problem you will one day see is when Chinese create something others do not have and it is stolen by others without any payment for the money and effort the Chinese put into making something others have not made yet. Then you will grasp that it may be only $2 or $3 dollars to the thief but is cost the party who made it perhaps billions to make it and in that exchange by the thief, they get nothing for their effort.

There is a similar arguement going on in Thailand right now, whereby the Military Coupe leadrship has decided to essentially copy and thus not pay royality, steal if you will, patiented medicine for Aids patients and others from numerous companies who spent billions risking their money and time to as equally failure as success inventing those medicine that help people. Do you think if it keeps geting stolen and they get nothing for their effort, they try top make better medicine available where their rights arnot prpotected.

So now, these companies and some countries have decided they wil not send any new improved medicines to Thialand, thus if they make better more effective medicines, the Thais who need them will be left out because, some think it okay to steal the work of others which in short term seems attractive but to those who can not make the new stuff, it leaves them out in the cold...

Put it on apersonal level, if it was you who was losing money to thiefs for what only you had made but they now copy and sell making money for themsleves but not giving you any for you investment and effort, what would be your reaction?

USTrader, that was an excellent post.

Dionysus, welcome to the forum. You are right that piracy of things like VCD's is a big problem, and it is illegal. But as USTrader just wrote, we have seen pirated things being sold all over the world. When I visited Shanghai in 2006, we bought brand new copies of Brokeback Mountain and Hunting Nemo for 5 yuan each, when they would have been selling in the USA for maybe - I don't know, first-run, maybe $35. The companies lose billions of dollars.

This month I bought an excellent motorcycle helmet of the Nolan brand. But I think it's a cheap copy! I didn't spend $189 like I would have in the USA, but maybe I got an inferior product.

I think the police and governments in China can be very strict, but it seems that western China is so modern now, maybe it is becoming more like the developing countries. But that's not completely good, either.

ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha of course you bought Brokeback Mountain, of course! rofl! Dionysus, fitobethaid is a homosexual living in thailand who engages in the hyperliberal unregulated sexual activity there, you have to take his comments with a grain of salt. He lives with and has sex with thai males.

The Chinese government has funded agencies that do nothing but reverse engineer technology from other countries. The government of China steals fromt the rest of the world. This happened recently with dell computers. A chinese owned Korean manufacturing company copied (poorly) some capacitors and these started to explode in dell computers here in the US.

It is funny to hear you mention a suffrage excuse for committing crime, lol. I got a family to support argument is universal.
