ustrader, are you personally saying that all US troops in Asia should be brought home? All the military in Japan, South Korea, and everywhere else?
It sounds like a good idea; I'm a bit surprised if that's what you're suggesting. Oh, and while we're at it, how about getting the North and South Koreans to end the war, since they never agreed it was over? Of course, the USA never declared it.

I speak here, as merely the “Dysyoptia” antagonists to Retreat and Defeat, exhaling antagonistically, in the IF LOGIC of this rhetoric of Utopian Defeat and Retreat, spun in the denial of actual consequences, only.
IF we have no stake or danger of protective, self interests now, or, in the future, for being in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the greater Middle East. What pray tell is our interests in remaining, NOW, some 62 and 54 years in Europe and Asia that is any more important and or substantial than current and future impacts on our societies from an unstable Middle East?
Hence, my lamenting, in contrarians logic, if we are to RETREAT, THEN RETREAT!!

It may be retreat and defeat along with this mantra of denial mongering that takes the American Consciousness to what is to be next in her destiny.
It may be our kinds war to fight, but it will be other's kinds war to lose, as it was in Vietnam. We did not lose, as we were not there, as fact and after fact shows conclusively, it was the Vietnamese who lost big, while those Winter Soldiers and Sunshine Patriots, who in increasing numbers, never sacrifice in a willingness to risk it all, for that which gives them all.
In my simple military mind, if my kind, are wrong, as we fear, and it ends in no danger to America and retreat and defeat brings no harm to us all, then we win most of all as those who fight these dangers to us all.
Yet, if the other kind of Winter Soldiers and Sunshine Patriots are wrong and there are a real dangers to fear and there is a harm to us all, then we all lose, but that kind least of all, cause it will not fight, nor see, these dangers to us all causing pain that does not have to be.
Yet, in their miscalculations, my kind is the biggest loser of all. Having to clean up yet another blind blunder of reliance on a hope and the goodness in man, which is the causes of so many deaths. That which is relied on, as that yet to be seen, yet always wished for, as if possible, dream.
A dream always paid for in others blood as an unseen danger, always lurking, always unseen in the peace drums of our Winter Patriots and Sunshine soldiers denying dreams.
