Just completely insensitive to peoples beliefs and he is simply fanning the flames and widening the gap of misunderstanding between two cultures.

Which ones?

I'm not sure which ones you mean...but I have seen a bunch and I have never thought it was cool to make a mockery of ones faith....followers of a faith and supposed leaders of ones faith, sure...but not the religion or ones faith.

The Bible...is open for interpretation and there are certainly "holes" in it.

The Quran is the direct word of God ... according to Muslims. And while there are passages open for interpretation, most -- at least to me -- seem to be taken entirely out of context and are repeated ad nauseum to inflame Muslims and further divide humanity.

If you interpret the Bible literally, then of course there are holes in it. How old is the Earth supposed to be? How old was Moses when he died?

But I suspect you can't interpret the Bible as literally as you can the Quran. Instead of doing the world some good by highlighting the similarities between Christianity, Judiaism and Islam ... this bozo is just doing more harm.

God created Earth and then man....no mention of dinosaurs??? Where was the t rex chasing around Adam and Eve in Genesis? Look...I went to St. Joes for four years and before that 8 years of Catholic elementary and middle school.

And no I don't think the differences in religious text is creating the rift since Muslims hold the Holy Bible in extremely high regard. The rift comes when Christians poke fun at the Holy Prophet, the Quran (which is like an insult to God since it was His direct word), globalization, the disrespect westerners display in Islamic countries...all kinds of stuff.

My point is that this douche is doing nothing but attempting to create a deeper divide.

I hate it when the link to today's newspaper doesn't work. I see that Evil Knievel died at age 69.

Muslims in jailed teacher protest

Press Association
Saturday December 1, 2007 5:28 PM

British Muslims protested outside the Sudanese Embassy over the treatment of jailed teacher Gillian Gibbons.

The small but noisy group demanded the immediate release of Mrs Gibbons, who is currently serving a 15-day prison sentence in Sudan after her class of seven-year-olds named a teddy bear Mohammed.

Chanting "free, free Gillian" and "let her go, let her go", demonstrators attempted to hand over a "goodwill teddy" to the embassy, but a staff member refused to accept the gift.

Some 20 British Muslims, including MP for Tooting Sadiq Khan and chairman of the Islamic Human Rights Commission Massoud Shadjareh, gathered outside the Sudanese embassy in Piccadilly.

Leaders of the protest said they wanted to show that British Muslims supported Mrs Gibbons. Some arrived with their own teddy bears.

The protest followed angry scenes in Khartoum on Friday in which knife-wielding fundamentalists called for the execution of Mrs Gibbons.

At the London demonstration, Catherine Heseltine, a 28-year teacher and member of the Muslim Public Affairs Committee, condemned the action of hard-line Islamists.

She said: "They are dragging the name of Islam through the mud. The overwhelming feeling in the Muslim community in the UK is that it is really sad the way Gillian Gibbons has been treated. I haven't met a single British Muslim who has taken the naming of the teddy to be an insult."

Mr Shadjareh, chairman of the Islamic Human Rights Commission, said: "I find it offensive that Islam is being used in this way by the Sudanese government and the media.

"It is totally unacceptable by the Sudanese government and the press are trying to make this into another cartoon or a Salmon Rushdie issue." blink.gif
