See here.

'twould seem that Obama is afraid of debating the man he says won't face the issues. Hmmmm?

Wonder why?

For a man who wants "to debate real issues" to back away from doing so soutuv sounds like his other reversals such as public financing for campaigning, etc. Have I also heard that he is changing his view on withdrawal, but refuses to say that the Surge has worked?

Does this guy talk out of both sides of his mouth at the same time, or what? This is "change"? I think not.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic candidate Barack Obama on Saturday backed further away from rival John McCain's challenge for a series of Lincoln-Douglas debates, agreeing only to the standard three face-offs in the fall proposed by the Commission on Presidential Debates.

In a letter to the commission, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe said the short period between the last political convention and the first proposed debate made it likely that the commission-sponsored debates would be the only ones in the fall.

"We've committed to the three debates on the table," campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki said in an interview. "It's likely they will be the three appearances by the candidates this fall."

Asked by The Associated Press if that meant Obama would not agree to any other debates, Psaki said, "We're not saying that."

The first debate planned by the commission is set for Sept. 26 in Oxford, Miss., three weeks after the Republican National Convention concludes Sept. 4. The other presidential debates are set for Oct. 7 and Oct. 15 and the vice presidential debate for Oct. 2.

Plouffe said Rep. Rahm Emanuel of Illinois will be Obama's representative in further discussions with the commission.

Obama can't have the choreographed meetings in a town hall format.

He isn't kowledgeable enough to discuss issues on their merits without his handlers giving him the answers first.

I am only surprised it took him this long to back down.

Well, after his and McCains' debate last Sunday at the Saddleback Church with Rick Warren last Sunday, I guess we can all see why he's backed away from debates with McCain. Although, this wasn't an actual debate, he didn't do too well without his pre-written speeches by Axelrod (sp?)

He made a couple of really bad blunders and has gone down in the polls since.

How many think that Clinton will try to take over his nomination at the Dem Convention? The superdelegates haven't voted yet to elect their candidate officially.

There is some scuttlebutt that he's not even entitled to be in the running for President as he wasn't naturalized correctly after he and his family renounced his U.S. citizenship to go abroad when he was child.
What's the deal about his birth certificate?
