Full Version: LOL McCain does not know where SPAIN is!
Political Topics And Discussion > All Things Political > US Political Topics
MrLeft
Here is the transcript of the radio interview:

QUESTION: Senator, finally, let's talk about Spain. If you're elected president, would you be willing to invite President Jose Luiz Rodriguez Zapatero to the White House to meet with you?

MCCAIN: I would be willing meet, uh, with those leaders who our friends [sic] and want to work with us in a cooperative fashion, and by the way, President Calderon of Mexico is fighting a very very tough fight against the drug cartels. I'm glad we are now working in cooperation with the Mexican government on the Merida plan. I intend to move forward with relations, and invite as many of them as I can, those leaders, to the White House.

QUESTION: Would that invitation be extended to the Zapatero government, to the president itself?

MCCAIN: I don't, you know, honestly I have to look at relations and the situations and the priorities, but I can assure you I will establish closer relations with our friends and I will stand up to those who want to do harm to the United States of America.

QUESTION: So you have to wait and see if he's willing to meet with you, or you'll be able to do it in the White House?

MCCAIN: Well again I don't, all I can tell you is that I have a clear record of working with leaders in the hemisphere that are friends with us, and standing up to those who are not, and that's judged on the basis of the importance of our relationship with Latin America, and the entire region.

QUESTION: Okay... what about Europe I'm talking about the President of Spain?

MCCAIN: What about me what?

QUESTION: Okay... are you willing to meet with him if you are elected president?

MCCAIN: I am willing to meet with any leader who is dedicated to the same principles and philosophy that we are for human rights, democracy and freedom, and I will stand up to those that do not.

Jose Luiz Rodriguez Zapatero isn't an idiot; he is not wanting to see his country get all tied up in a losing surge in Iraq. The people in Iraq is still fighting amongst themselves like cats and dogs -- 100 years from now they will still be doing the same thing, too.

With as much people that has suffered in Iraq -- first and foremost our soldiers -- and the exorbitant costs to the American taxpayer, being burdened with escalting costs combined with the USA catching a financial cold, and then we give it to everyone else, can you blame Jose and his decision of watching out for Spain?

Yeah, what on earth did he learn at Harvard?
Should have gone to a stellar institution like the University of Idaho.
Big difference between a slip up and an interview, by the way.
McCain talks like a retard. It is patently obvious. Wonder who is pulling his strings? James Dobson? Or the 59 lobbyists working with him?

Barack Obama: Gaffe machine

Barack Obama: Gaffe machine

All it takes is one gaffe to taint a Republican for life. The political establishment never let Dan Quayle live down his fateful misspelling of “potatoe.” The New York Times distorted and misreported the first President Bush’s questions about new scanner technology at a grocers’ convention to brand him permanently as out of touch.

But what about Barack Obama? The guy’s a perpetual gaffe machine. Let us count the ways, large and small, that his tongue has betrayed him throughout the campaign:

* Last May, he claimed that Kansas tornadoes killed a whopping 10,000 people: “In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed.” The actual death toll: 12.

*Earlier this month in Oregon, he redrew the map of the United States: “Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go.”

*Last week, in front of a roaring Sioux Falls, South Dakota audience, Obama exulted: “Thank you Sioux City…I said it wrong. I’ve been in Iowa for too long. I’m sorry.”

*Explaining last week why he was trailing Hillary Clinton in Kentucky, Obama again botched basic geography: “Sen. Clinton, I think, is much better known, coming from a nearby state of Arkansas. So it’s not surprising that she would have an advantage in some of those states in the middle.” On what map is Arkansas closer to Kentucky than Illinois?

*Obama has as much trouble with numbers as he has with maps. Last March, on the anniversary of the Bloody Sunday march in Selma, Alabama, he claimed his parents united as a direct result of the civil rights movement:

“There was something stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Alabama, because some folks are willing to march across a bridge. So they got together and Barack Obama Jr. was born.”

Obama was born in 1961. The Selma march took place in 1965. His spokesman, Bill Burton, later explained that Obama was “speaking metaphorically about the civil rights movement as a whole.”

*Earlier this month in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Obama showed off his knowledge of the war in Afghanistan by honing in on a lack of translators: “We only have a certain number of them and if they are all in Iraq, then it’s harder for us to use them in Afghanistan.” The real reason it’s “harder for us to use them” in Afghanistan: Iraqis speak Arabic or Kurdish. The Afghanis speak Pashto, Farsi, or other non-Arabic languages.

*Over the weekend in Oregon, Obama pleaded ignorance of the decades-old, multi-billion-dollar massive Hanford nuclear waste clean-up:

“Here’s something that you will rarely hear from a politician, and that is that I’m not familiar with the Hanford, uuuuhh, site, so I don’t know exactly what’s going on there. (Applause.) Now, having said that, I promise you I’ll learn about it by the time I leave here on the ride back to the airport.”

I assume on that ride, a staffer reminded him that he’s voted on at least one defense authorization bill that addressed the “costs, schedules, and technical issues” dealing with the nation’s most contaminated nuclear waste site.

*Last March, the Chicago Tribune reported this little-noticed nugget about a fake autobiographical detail in Obama’s “Dreams from My Father:”

“Then, there’s the copy of Life magazine that Obama presents as his racial awakening at age 9. In it, he wrote, was an article and two accompanying photographs of an African-American man physically and mentally scarred by his efforts to lighten his skin. In fact, the Life article and the photographs don’t exist, say the magazine’s own historians.”

* And in perhaps the most seriously troubling set of gaffes of them all, Obama told a Portland crowd over the weekend that Iran doesn’t “pose a serious threat to us”–cluelessly arguing that “tiny countries” with small defense budgets can’t do us harm– and then promptly flip-flopped the next day, claiming, “I’ve made it clear for years that the threat from Iran is grave.”

Barack Obama–promoted by the Left and the media as an all-knowing, articulate, transcendent Messiah–is a walking, talking gaffe machine. How many more passes does he get? How many more can we afford?

"Palin Minds The Gaffes
There are other ways to flunk an interview
By Clint Hendler

So far, the reaction to Sarah and Charlie’s big night seems to be that she didn’t do anything to embarrass herself. In short, no gaffes.

A gaffe, of course, is defined as an unintentional, embarrassing blunder—usually a quick, cringe-inducing, irrevocable verbal slip. It can be on a matter of substance (“Poland is free”) but usually isn’t. Gaffes make great sound bites, which is part of the reason why the media makes so much of them.

Here’s what Bill Sammon, Fox News’s Washington-based deputy managing editor, said this morning on Fox and Friends:

The gaffe issue is the most important test she could have passed. There are a lot of critiques out today or tomorrow nibbling around the edges … What that tells you is that no major gaffes were made because we would be having a very different conversation if she screwed up.
I can’t disagree with that. If Palin had, say, fallen out of her chair, cried, called Obama “uppity,” or cursed, well, yes, we’d be having a very different conversation.

But it’s not like she didn’t give us enough to talk about.

She didn’t recognize the term “Bush Doctrine,” a key foundation of the administration’s justification to invade Iraq; nor was she able to explain its premise.

She suggested that Alaska’s proximity to Russia—so close that you can see!—gives her foreign policy cred. (I can see a film school from my desk window, so I’m expecting an offer from a Hollywood agent any day now.)

She circled back to repeated talking points at every opportunity, betraying a lack of substantial knowledge on any foreign policy issue she was asked about.

That’s the easy stuff, all of which can—and should—be pointed out without provoking debates about the soundness or wisdom of the answers she did give. Yes, Palin had to perform, but she also told us about the policies and perspectives she’s just learned she’ll be advocating for.

And on that front, there is a lot of ground for fruitful press discussion. Does Palin disagree with her running mate over the propriety of pursuing al-Qaeda members in Pakistan without that government’s approval? What exactly, is Palin’s understanding of the murky start of this summer’s Georgian-Russian war that leads her to state, unequivocally, that Russia’s invasion was unprovoked?

Add it all up, and it looked to me like a pretty disastrous outing for Palin. Gibson was firm and sensible, and didn’t dabble in the transparent gotcha. But he netted no gaffe. So what does that mean?

“She didn’t do anything that would hurt her cause or the McCain ticket,” said Ken Rudin, NPR’s political editor, on today’s Morning Edition.

That’s one way of looking at it."

She didn’t recognize the term “Bush Doctrine,” a key foundation of the administration’s justification to invade Iraq; nor was she able to explain its premise. There is no place other than possibly blogs that there is anything called "Bush Doctrine." I was wondering what the hell he was talking about as well. Next point?
She suggested that Alaska’s proximity to Russia—so close that you can see!—gives her foreign policy cred. I guess you guys don't have a very sharp sense of humor. Whatever it takes to have something to rant about, right? Desperation.
She circled back to repeated talking points at every opportunity, betraying a lack of substantial knowledge on any foreign policy issue she was asked about. Of course, Obama doesn't do this, does he? And, he's been campaigning now for.................two years? By now, if he were as original as his followers think he should be able to spit out answers without a teleprompter or using talking points. Correct?

That’s the easy stuff, all of which can—and should—be pointed out without provoking debates about the soundness or wisdom of the answers she did give. Yes, Palin had to perform, but she also told us about the policies and perspectives she’s just learned she’ll be advocating for.

What exactly, is Palin’s understanding of the murky start of this summer’s Georgian-Russian war that leads her to state, unequivocally, that Russia’s invasion was unprovoked? And....................??? Did Gibson ask her this question? If he didn't why carp on the fact she didn't give ALL answers to ALL things in her first interview. Personally, I'd like to hear Obama's thoughts on these..........without all the eloquence of his speechwriter Axelrod's words. And, he's had..........let's see..........almost two years in campaigning now? So far, almost every stance HE'S taken on any issue, he's changed to the opposite. I really don't know what this guy stand for. AND, he's the one running for COMMANDER IN CHIEF!!

Add it all up, and it looked to me like a pretty disastrous outing for Palin. No, it was't . It made Gibson look like a fool. Gibson was firm and sensible laugh.gif , and didn’t dabble in the transparent gotcha. And, he didn't try to make a few gotchas himself? How laugh.gif
But he netted no gaffe. So what does that mean? It means that he failed utterly in his goal, that's what it means. He tried his best to make her look bad and he's the one that ended up looking the fool. This is absolutely laughable. Gibson came off looking like a threatening, scowling grandfather schoolmaster, with his glasses pearched on the tip of his nose while tipping his head back and looking at Palin in a distainful mannerwhile looking down his nose at her...........from the beginning of the interview. I think she held up well and gave cogent answers. He tried to rattle her, but didn't succeed. He got a LOT of criticism over his act, and he should. He didn't act like a journalist. He looked like a trial judge during the inquisition. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Yes, that's one way, but the wrong way. She did much more than that. You guys are just sore losers. If she'd worn white, you'd criticize her for not wearing black. Etc, etc. Her interview showed that she can take the bullying metted out by pretend-to-be journalists such as Gibson while showing the total unprofessional lengths the MSM will go to in order to bait someone and try to use their responses in order to slash and cut. You guys look like the incompetents and pretty d.a.m.n.e.d desperate. This woman has got you all scared shyteless or you wouldn't be working so hard to make her and McCain look bad in order to lose. SoloNav, if you had lived here in Alaska, you'd know something about the subject. The woman has honestly done very little. No one has to work hard to make her look bad. In fact, all the hard work is being done to make her look like a viable candidate, when by the the very criteria that was initially deemed the benchmarks for qualification, she doesn't measure up.

The major difference between Sarah Palin and the rest of the rotten Repub crop here, and the fact that they are rotten simply cannot be denied, is simply this. She hasn't been in office as long as they have.

So you read, eh? Hopefully something other than Craig's Notes.
