A republican president BEGS for an emergency bill to avoid a financial meltdown.
The DEMOCRATS vote for it by majority, LISTENING to the republican president.
The TRAITOR REPUBLICANS who care more about their own LOCAL ELECTIONS than the good of our country, IGNORE their own REPUBLICAN president and vote majority against it.
KICK OUT ALL REPUBLICANS! It isn't country first for them. We need DEMOCRATS as president and veto proof majorities in both houses. KICK OUT THE TRAITOR SCUM!

Actually, TQ, 95 Democrats voted against the bill, with 140 voting for it. The Democrats are the majority in Congress and can vote this bill in at anytime they wish to do so. The bill didn't fail because of Republicans. Sure, 133 Republicans voted against it, and 65 voted for it........but again if those 95 Democrats hadn't voted against it as well, the bill would have passed.

This isn't proof of anything other than the fact that the bill wasn't approved by either party. dry.gif

That is just SPIN and you know it! The bill was a hard pill to swallow and it demanded BIPARTISAN support to take this pill, so that not one party would take all the blame or all the credit. It did have MAJORITY democratic support, a bill proposed by a REPUBLICAN president! I don't even believe you believe your own bullshit. The republicans did not play along and I hate them for it. This is a disaster and your anti-American party is to blame.

Sure, I believe in partianship..........both parties rejected this awful bill, full of pork and giving complete control to Paulson and whomever follows him, with no right for anyone to question what is done with that spurious amount of $700B for Wall Street..

Before you make any more really, really foolish statements , you guys need to read what the majority in Congress( at this moment, Democrats) can do. See here.
Our Founders believed in the wisdom of the American people to choose their leaders and provided for the concept of divided and effective government. The majority party in Congress gets to pass the bills it wants. The minority party, especially where the margins are close, has a strong say in the form bills take. And the Constitution leaves it to the president to use his judgment whether they should be signed into law.

There were enough Democrats present to be a quorum
A quorum is the minimum attendance—half the members plus one—necessary for either the Senate or House to conduct business. If a quorum is not present, no business can be transacted. Normally, far fewer than half the senators and representatives are present on the floor. However, a quorum is assumed to be present until any member suggests its absence. When that happens, bells ring to summon absent members to the floor.

Count the votes and who was present: 235 Democrats + 198 Repubicans = 433. Divide that by 2 + 1 = 208 needed for a quorum. Democrats had 235 present..........enough to pass this bill if they wanted to. They didn't want to.

Apparently, the Democrats did not want to use their majority in Congress to pass this bill, BUT is putting out a campaign media frenzy trying to blame Republicans for the mess and the uninformed or infirmed are falling for it. Not a good advertisement for intelligence.

Let me repeat: This is a horrible bill and the majority of Americans, including Democrats, DID NOT LIKE IT. They barraged their representatives with complaints who had no choice but to do what the people wanted. However, to some this is just another day in paradise by using anything they can to bash Republicans in general.

ODD how the majority, who has yet, in two years, to ever be timid in passing a bill, [u]with NO input by the Minority.]/u] Yet. here they DO NOT want to take ownership as THE NEW LEADERS, with Obama as El Presidente soon, as the majority, TO SAVE AMERICA for the credit they always seek in blaming someelse for failure.

Except, oddly NOW, they don't want the credit for THE BAIL OUT THAT WOULD SAVE AMERICA, saying others must get the CREDIT too.

Why, is it the Majority not riding on their white horses to save America from those evil Republicans and Conservatives, when they can so easily do so, is the true question the American voters should be asking, before they vote for the frozen in fear failed leaders the DOOMocrats have proven to be.

Support for Bailout Plan Now Down to 24%

Just 24% of U.S. voters now favor the plan first proposed by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson a week ago and the subject of very public negotiations on Capitol Hill ever since, according to a Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey taken Friday night. Fifty percent (50%) oppose it, and 25% are undecided.

Six–out-of-10 voters (60%) remain worried that the federal government will do too much to bailout the ailing financial markets. Only 28% think the government will not do enough.

Fifty-one percent (51%) of investors oppose the plan, and 63% of them worry the government will do too much.

Yes Solo. And your post would be a discussion ender were you dealing with rational opponents. The dems did not vote for this because they do not want to alleviate any economic suffering before the election. They want people hurting as bad as possible so they and their MSM allies can continue their demagoguery against the right.

But make no mistake here. This bill was doomed to failure. Pelosi rigged it that way. She wasn't about to let anything happen that might benifit McPain. Don"t believe me libs? The smart money in the stock market took their profits and sent the Dow down 300 before the vote. They were aware of the C*nt Pelosis' game . The dumb money sent it down an additional 400 after the vote.

The dems don't give a sh!t about this country or those in it.

But no skin off my hide. I've been out of the market since last November and will be eagerly looking for buy opportunities once the dow approaches 8000.

Democrats against the bailout and why.

See Oregon Democrat: Bailout Bill A 'Fake Lease'.

The House of Representatives rejected the $700 billion bailout plan Monday. Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR) was one of 228 lawmakers who voted against the plan — and said he was stunned it failed, even though he voted against it.
Oregon Democrat: Bailout Bill A 'Fake Lease'
DeFazio told NPR's Melissa Block that there are "credible alternatives out there," and "this was never a slam dunk."

"It was a fake pay for — a fake lease," DeFazio said. "It said five years from now a president will propose to Congress a way to pay back the taxpayers. That's ridiculous. There could be a real sea on stock transactions that would pay for the cost of this bill.

"It did take away golden parachutes, and then instead it gave execs camouflage parachutes — you know, loophole written. The Republican insurance part was very dangerous, and it still gave phenomenal clout — unprecedented clout — to this treasury secretary and appointee of George Bush(Paulson--the man who wanted to be czar over $700B --note by SoloNav). And should we trust these people as far as we can throw them?"

And, then there is Democrat Doggett On Saying No To Bailout Bill

And, Dennis J. Kucinich (D) just got through saying that he was against it because of the same reasons as DeFazio. I don't have a link for that one just now.

And, Bush would have criticized had the bill been passed, or not passed. All the same, even though the Democrats had the majority of authorship in the first and second version of the bill; otherwise, House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (who along with Chris Dodd (D)insisted in the first version that $500M per year be given to the scandal-ridden Obama favorite ACORN (he taught them how to do their work), among other leftist giveaways) wouldn't have stormed out of the office on Thursday when McCain threw his support behind Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's opposition to the first version of the bill.
SoloNav
As an aside here, already another ACORN voting scandal. (Remember, this is the leftist group that Barney Frank and Chris Dodd tried to get included in the first version of the bailout to the tune of over $200M.) Ohio voters are beginning early voting and there are already accusations of voter fraud being committed by ACORN. ACORN (Obama's baby where he started his "community organizing,"has given money, acted as their legal defense ) has a long history of alleged fraud in their registration drives. All of their improprieties have gone to the benefit of Democrats, and Democrats have not stinted on their appreciation.
The Board of Elections has begun a criminal investigation into the submission of fraudulent registration cards, with an eye to prosecuting ACORN officials...

Cuyahoga County officials have accused ACORN, the GOTV organization employed by Barack Obama’s campaign, of voter registration fraud — again. The Board of Elections has begun a criminal investigation into the submission of fraudulent registration cards, with an eye to prosecuting ACORN officials (via Bizzyblog):

A national organization that conducts voter registration drives for low-income people has curtailed its push in Cuyahoga County after the Board of Elections accused its workers of submitting fraudulent registration cards.

The board is investigating the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now[.] Results of the inquiry could be turned over to the county prosecutor.

Board employees said ACORN workers often handed in the same name on a number of voter registration cards, but showing that person living at different addresses. Other times, cards had the same name listed, but a different date of birth. Still another sign of possible fraud showed a number of people living at an address that turned out to be a restaurant.

ACORN has a long history of alleged fraud in their registration drives. All of their improprieties have gone to the benefit of Democrats, and Democrats have not stinted on their appreciation. Here in Minnesota, failed gubernatorial candidate Mike Hatch diverted thousands of dollars to ACORN from a lawsuit settlement as Attorney General. Democrats in Congress sent millions to ACORN as part of the economic stimulus plan in February and in the housing bailout bill in April.

What did Democrats subsidize with these gifts to ACORN? A rap sheet years long, including in Ohio:

2007: A man in Reynoldsburg was indicted on two felony counts of illegal voting and false registration, after being registered by ACORN to vote in two separate counties.

2004: A grand jury indicted a Columbus ACORN worker for submitting a false signature and false voter registration form. In Franklin County, two ACORN workers submitted what the director of the board of election supervisors called “blatantly false” forms. In Cuyahoga County, ACORN and its affiliate Project Vote submitted registration cards that had the highest rate of errors for any voter registration group.

In examining the record, one has to wonder why Congress hasn’t demanded a RICO investigation of ACORN instead of trying to find ways to fund its pattern of fraud. The Democratic majority apparently feels that they need ACORN to conduct fraud on a massive scale in order to cement their grip on power. And, since their presidential candidate just had to amend his campaign finance records to show an $800,000 contract with ACORN, it seems Barack Obama’s supposed “reform” rests on the same kind of fraud.
