"The head of failed US investment bank Lehman Brothers has told Congress that he took home about $300m in compensation over the past eight years.

Richard Fuld, whose firm went bankrupt last month, made the statement during testimony before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

The panel is holding its first hearing into the cause of the financial crisis.

It is being held amid renewed market turmoil, with shares plummeting further in Europe and the US.";

""In other words," he added, "even as Mr Fuld was pleading with [Treasure] Secretary [Henry] Paulson for a federal rescue, Lehman continued to squander millions on executive compensation.""

Ha, this is just priceless- while certain members of the political parties are fighting over which one is to blame on this massive c*ck-up, Lehman continues to squander millions of dollars! How can you let this happen?? Seriously?? 'Nuff of politics, the laws in America are screwed up if a guy who is asking tax payers to bail him out can continue squander millions of dollars on his top dogs!

And are again wrong as always, CC, ..........
Lehman filed for BK on Sept 15th. They no longer exist as a viable entity. They no longer have millions to squander.
And, any federal bail out money will not be going to a firm that is already out of business.
You are one clueless c*nt.

Go f*ck yourself with something hard and sandpapery Nonads. These dealings were going on just before Lehman filed for bankruptcy (On September 13, 2008, Timothy F. Geithner, the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York called a meeting on the future of Lehman, which included the possibility of an emergency liquidation of its assets. Lehman reported that it had been in talks with Bank of America and Barclays for the company's possible sale. However, both Barclays and Bank of America ultimately declined to purchase the entire company).

Perhaps because of his unethical business practices which have screwed up the entire economy so much? Why on earth are you protecting/defending a guy like this?

Ok CC, I can now see why you dropped out of college. Piss poor communication skills. At the time of your post Lehman was already BK. Why use the word "continues"? Why, because you didn't know that.

The same reason that a screwd-up conservative ding-dong like yourself wouldn't enjoy seeing an American auto worker making $22.00 - $25.00 an hour back in the seventies, Abdul. And who cares what he spent it on; it's gone now. 002.gif 002.gif 002.gif

Un Fkn believable. This little pissant wasn't even alive in the 70's but professes to be expert on that era. Well I was alive then. The first hourly job I took in 73 paid $3.00/hr. The apartment I shared with another cost $210/month. The first new car I bought was a Toyota and it cost $4500.00. If an auto worker was paid even $15/hr back then how many cars do you think would have sold? And how long do you think those mopes would have had a job @ $22.00/hr if the product they turned out was too expensive for most people to purchase?????Shemp, your ignorance extends far and wide, but your economic ignorance does take the cake. You are an economic moron.
Below is a synopsis of a 1990 UAW agreement
QUOTE
UAW assembler hourly wage $ 25.63
40 hours gross pay 1,025.20
Federal and state withholding 213.65
Weekly after-tax pay 811.55
95% of weekly after-tax pay 770.97
Work-related expense deduction 25.00
Gross pay under SUB $ 745.97

Link

Now, Shemp. Take a close look at that and realize how much money is being taken from your precious auto workers by the feds and the union. Money that would otherwise be spent to sustain local economies. Ahh, but hell, this is all lost on you. I got a better idea........
Lets mandate that all McDonalds workers are paid $20/hr. And lets see how long McDonalds stays in business and their workers have a job.

Oh, I'm luvin this. Shemp, you are quite determined to make a total ignornant @ss out of yourself.

Here are some stats from 1973........................

Minimum wage in 73 was $1.60/hr
Average median home price was 28.9k
Average price of a gallon of gas was less than 50 cents/gallon

Now let's run the numbers here. I grossed $3.00/hr. Thats $480/month gross. After the federal ripoff I took home about $400.00/month. My half of the apt. cost $110.00/mo. That left me with $290.00. My car and insurance payments cost $120.00/mo. That left me with $170/mo of discretionary cash or about $6.00/day. That was enough. Back then food was cheap too. I'm sure Solo and Trader well remember the McDonalds ads for a full meal and change back from ONE DOLLAR.

Well Shemp, I've made you the fool again. With facts as usual. You cannot deny the cost of living in 1973. Facts are facts. Now please tell us how you would justify auto workers being entitled to 22.00/hr back then.

Nope, i can answer it, but your reply post is exactly the reason why i can't be bothered explaining things to a foul-mouthed arrogant old man like you (that and the fact that when in the past i've explained things to you you usually don't bother replying back). Chances are even if i did explain the situation to you, you wouldn't be able to comprehend the concept or bother replying back with anything meaningful either way.

No you can't answer that, CC, otherwise you would not be dodging the question. You ran your mealy little mouth as you usually do hoping google would bail you out. Fact is, Shemp, you could eat 3 squares a day for less than a buck back then. Gas cost me about 50 cents /day (if that). And lets figure another 50 cents/day on incidentals. Still left me with $4.00/day extra.

I just did. Must have been nice getting by on about five gallons of gasoline in your tank ($2.50--thus killing off one hour. And I'm not really including the payroll tax in that calculation, too.) Being a young man--I'd say somewhere in your late teens or early twenties?--I'm sure that you ate out of a potato chip bag for a week.

Back in 73 a 3# bag of spaghetti cost $1.79, a dozen eggs cost .45 cents, and a loaf of bread cost .29 cents. This cancels out your potato chip bullsh!t. And my work was about 6 miles from my home so .50 cents a day allowed for gas was more than enough.
