From the comments made from posters after this article was read, apparently Letterman was his typical jerk when McCain was brave enough to go into enemy territory, but it turned on him. Hilarious! What goes around, comes around. See one of the comments below:

McCain is a classy man. He pulled it off with elegance and wit, without coming off as petulent or condescending. It is so refreshing to hear a politician admit "I screwed up." My heart skipped a beat at that moment.

I have to admit that I was starting to have doubts about McCain and was leaning towards Obama. But when McCain grabbed that microphone from that anti-Obama woman and defended Obama while his own audience booed him, I began to understand why McCain is such a remarkable and very non-Washington kind of guy.

And his appearance on Letterman, and remaining graceful under Letterman's constant fire, sealed the deal for me. I like McCain. I can trust him at his word. I may disagree with him sometimes, but I can always bank on his sense of honor and sacrifice. This is the exact kind of president that America needs during these uncertain times: a man we can trust.

Atta boy, John!!!! Keep those liberals looking like the classless, boorish idiots they are.

BTW,Zogby has McCain gaining on Obama, and is only two points behinddespite the millions Obama has spent and all the mud-slinging & ridiculing (Palin) and muck-racking(Joe, the Plumber) they've done. Obama has him out-manned and outspent, and McCain is till gaining on him.

You failed to show the projections for ELECTORAL votes, the ONLY count that matter. Nice try, Missy!
BTW, people like Letterman. They were watching for a cat fight not because they like the traitor McCain who dares put our nation at risk with that joke of a hockey housewife, S. Palin.
